Beaujolais wine comes from clearly designated areas in the area south of Bordeaux
Beaujolais wine is made from the Gamay red grape in the Beaujolais region of southeastern France. Many people who don't like red wine are Beaujolais fans. Detractors say that they taste of bubble gum, and some of them do (Beaujolais, not the detractors).
Beaujolais is a food-friendly wine. Almost every one of our food categories contains at least one recommendation for Beaujolais wine. Beaujolais is a fairly inexpensive wine available almost everywhere starting at about $10 a bottle. Well-known producers include Georges DuBoeuf and Louis Jadot. These wines are meant to be drunk young. The better ones are sold as Beaujolais Villages and Beaujolais Crus and you will pay more for them.
