While less than a quarter of Bordeaux wine is white, don't make the mistake of ignoring it. The most important grape varieties in white Bordeaux wines are Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. While there are great white Bordeauxs, run of the mill White Bordeaux tends to be run of the mill. In other words, Bordeaux on the label is no guarantee of quality. Bordeaux White starts at about $10 a bottle. I have always found Entre-Deux-Mers to be quite acceptable for this price range. Château de Rochemorin makes a Pessac-Léognan to try in the $18 range, especially if you like mango aromas and flavors. The Château Latour Martillac also from the Pessac-Léognan region at about $29 is full of tropical fruit and lemons. Is it by accident that this region is just across the Garonne River from Entre-Deux-Mers?
