Warm
A warm wine is a red wine containing a lot of
alcohol,
in harmony with other
components such as
acidity and flavor.
Watery
A watery wine is thin.
Weak
A weak wine lacks some components.
Weighty
A weighty wine is well-structured with a bit too much flavor or heaviness.
Well-balanced
All the fundamental components of a well-balanced wine:
acidity,
alcohol,
astringency,
and flavors are present and harmonious.
Wine lake
This derogatory term refers to the massive
European Union production of low-quality table wine.
Wine thief
A wine thief is a clear glass or plastic sampling tube with a
narrow opening at each end. The taster lowers the tube into the barrel or other
container, fills it to a given a barrel and removes it, keeping his or her
finger on the upper opening to collect a wine sample.
Woody
A woody wine has spent too much time in oak barrels.
