This unfiltered Chenin Blanc wine comes from South Africa. Some people prefer not
to drink it because it looks a bit cloudy. Others claim that filtering takes more than the
cloudiness out of the wine.
Unbalanced
Unbalanced wines have an excess of some components at the expense of other
components. An example is a quite
acidic
wine whose fruit flavor is lacking.
Unctuous
Unctuous are rich with a lot of concentrated,
velvety fruit.
Sweet dessert wines are often unctuous.
Underripe
An underripe wine tastes of underripe grapes.
Undertone
An undertone is a restrained trait. A great wine may include
a symphony of undertones.
Unfiltered
Unfiltered wines have not been filtered. They may have
undergone other clarification procedures such as fining.
Unfined
Unfined wines have not been fined. They may have undergone other
clarification procedures such as filtering.
Upfront
An upfront wine shows its stuff immediately. It doesn’t hide its
qualities, and you don’t have to wait for them to evolve, they won’t.
