The Dundee Hills AVA is located within the larger
Willamette Valley AVA approximately 28 miles (45 kilometers) southwest
of Portland, occupying about 7 thousand acres (2,800 hectares) of which some 20% is vineyards.
The soil is contains a lot of iron. The vineyards are protected by the Chehalem Mountains
to the north. Total production is about 45 thousand cases a year, mostly from Chardonnay, Muller Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris,
Pinot Noir, and Riesling grapes.
